Your Duty?

The ‘Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2015’ applies to all employers and landlords of non-domestic premises in England and Wales. This includes the common areas in blocks of flats and houses of multiple occupancy (HMOs). The law applies to you if you are one of the following:
  • Responsible for business premises
  • An employer or self-employed with business premises
  • Responsible for a part of a dwelling where that part is solely used for business purposes
  • A charity or voluntary organisation responsible for premises
  • A contractor with a degree of control over any premises
  • Provider of accommodation for paying guests
Under the ‘Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005’, the Responsible Person must have a safety risk assessment completed and implement and maintain a management plan.
