
What is Occupational Hygiene?
Occupational Hygiene uses science and engineering to prevent ill health in the workplace. There are a variety of different health hazards facing employers and employees within the work environment, from stress, repetitive strain injuries and infectious diseases to exposure to chemicals, noise and extreme temperature. These illnesses have a significant impact on businesses; between 2017 and 2018 work-related ill health or injury the UK economy an estimated value of £15 billion.*
